Sands of Time . . . . . I have to say is one of my most proudest works. It was started in early 2009. This also started life as a doodle. It was changed from the original sketch but, in the end came out perfect in my eyes.
Continuing the symbolism theme, this piece aims to communicate the true Value of Time. That time goes by in an instant, it glides by ever so slowly as it leaves us behind.
Be mindful.
The hour glass is present on a stool to represent the opportunity of time, beside the hour glass is a headless bird. The bird represents unfinished business. The pin between the horizon and ground symbolizes the balance of time and life (Tree).
Lastly, to the left of everything is a stick figure with a crown, sitting and wallowing in self pity. This symbolizes the human person simplified in appearance to emphasize his vulnerability. The lesson here, he who can take time for granted, can grown deep roots in the soil and become stuck in one place indefinitely. Man was not meant for this, he was made for constant movement, not stagnation.
He who wastes time, may be stuck in his own illusion for the rest of his days. If he awakens, he will find himself rooted to his past mistakes. It's never too late to pull yourself up and uproot yourself from your past.
