Fresh out of college, and following an award for excellence in fine art from my college. This was a sketch I made early after graduation. Originally it started out with just the girl walking. Then I decided to expand it and finish it, something which was an issue in this time for me due to a lack of direction on my part, actually finishing works of art was a struggle at times.
I was experimenting with shapes, patterns and simplifying body language communication via my characters.
I wanted to simply show the gracefulness of a woman walking through a blustery day, leaves blowing in the wind. I wanted to catch something seemingly impossible, which was to capture the essence of a quick glance with this mysterious woman with out fascial details, just with body language. . . . .It was very difficult to capture this feeling without eyes and facial expressions.
I believe it was captured successfully. This is a special piece of art for me.
